in the land of difficult access
The Wassaic Project Summer Festival, NY, USA
All the sweat and breath expelled from the bodies of the dancing audience are a collective contribution to building clouds in the atmosphere we all share and shape. With every breath and puff of sweat we build the clouds, and they carry our sighs and laughter across the land, our collective exhalations ascending to cast shadows upon the earth, grant reprieve from the harsh light of day, and rain on thirsty soil. Wherever our feet cannot tread, the air is free to travel from this Land of Difficult Access - translated from the Native American name Wassaic. Access from here is not so convenient on foot, but quite promising by air: water vapor is an ideal medium for connecting this land to the rest of the planet.
